One of the most wonderful things about the current state of personal computers, and the internet, is the power that it gives almost anyone. Right now (October 6, 2001) anyone with a reasonably-priced computer, and a little imagination, can create art that can then be shown to everyone in the world, via the internet. Shareware, freeware, and even "obsolete" versions of various applications can be used to create all kinds of movies, animation, sounds, images, and literature. For a somewhat old fogie, like me, this is just amazing. Those of you who are currently in high school, or a younger will probably take this for granted, and, I've read cultural comment about how the young people of today are less entertained by non-interactive diversions.
So, throughout the internet can be found many examples what can be done on a pc in one's home. Some of these are very entertaining. Others, are perhaps not quite as much fun. But, they are *all* examples of people trying to express themselves to a wide audience. I think it's amazing.
All of which brings me to this page.
I made the movies mostly for my entertainment, but then realized that if I found them funny, then others would, too. Then, when I got some positive feedback (that's right, the point at which "don't encourage him and he'll stop" would work has long passed.) I started thinking of ideas specifically for an audience of strangers. And so it went. So, relax, and enjoy:

                           RICKUMOVIES!  RIGHT HERE! RIGHT NOW!

MOVIE 1: Many people I know  enjoy spicy foods.  Among these foods are the infamous jalapeno peppers. I haven't been able to cultivate a taste for them, partly because they cause adverse effects, as documented in this hotclip.(flv video  739 kb)
MOVIE 2: Click here FOR A  HALLOWEEN (1999) MESSAGE! (flv video  451 kb)
MOVIE 3: Click here FOR A  HALLOWEEN (2000) MESSAGE! (flv video 2,234 kb)     MPEG 7,213kb
(yeah, it's kind of big. Sorry. But--it's got cool opening titles and end credits. Just like at the movies!!! )  (Well, except the screen is a lot smaller.)  (And its not as technically excellent.) This is the First RICKUBIS PRODUCTION!
MOVIE 4Second RICKUBIS PRODUCTION!!! AKA "Wipe Out/Wipe In" (11/11/00) Click THIS.(flv video 1,013 kb)  MPEG 3,619 kb

(Cool opening titles and end credits! Animation!!) (What the hell is WRONG with that boy?)
MOVIE 6How the next production came about:
Since I have a webcam, which is sometimes live, I've gotten some requests for nude programming.  One should be reminded at this point, that one should be careful what they ask for...they might get it.  Also, it is true that sometimes one can get what one asks for and STILL not be happy.  So, imagine, if you will, that you have a webcam, and that you've gotten requests for, shall we say, "strong content." Imagine that you are bored, and just once, you say "Ahh, what the heck, why not? I'm not ashamed of my body." Then, imagine, if you will, that you are ME. Oooh. That's a pretty horrifying thought. Maybe you shouldn't imagine that. Well, I've put a little film together.  Fourth RICKUBIS PRODUCTION!!! AKA "Rick Gets Naked" (11/28/2000) Click these links:(flv video 3,200 kb)    (Cool opening titles and end credits! Animation!!)Please note that all my web content is suitable for most family viewing, aside from the infrequent use of strong language. Therefore, you cannot always judge a movie--no matter how short it is--by its title. Those of you who downloaded, or refused to download, this last film, merely by judging the title, are in for a surprise.
I've remastered this movie August 12, 2003! I've reformatted to 352x240 and used better compression for the AVIs. I've recompressed the flv video file, also. I've also added music to the soundtrack (licensed--that means I'm using it legally. It also means that YOU can't use it, unless YOU license it.)  The file is bigger than it used to be, though. The link above now brings the flv video file.

From time to  time, I might encounter a cool application that I might be able to try for free. What follows is one example:
Well, I didn't know where else to put these .   More shameless self-promotion? Are you kidding?  With this face?
   Check THESE out! ------------------------------
Pretty cool, huh? Well, these are an animated .gifs  I generated from virtual heads that I was able to make.
Click here for a demo using multiple heads!  (flv video 1,220 kb)
Or,Click here for another demo using more multiple heads!  (flv video 2,308 kb)
Finally,Click here for little demo in mpg format.  (864kb)

The software that I used to make these heads is no longer available, although you can get a newer version of the software here.

Please note that the other images and clips that I used on this and other pages showing  the virtual heads were made with other software after I'd made the bio files. To get these results, I used several different software applications. A rough estimate includes:
1 photo manipulation/editor; 2 different digital video editors; an .mpg compressor; an .avi compressor; a flv video compressor; a .gif animator; a windows display capture; a morph animator; and 2 audio editors. I did this so  the images would be easier to see.  However, they weren't all that easy to make, though not *really* difficult, either.

Besides making these things, I've done a number nature videos. If you're curious about nature then go on to see  my videos about it at: Rick's Nature Films.
And I've gathered together some Slow Motion videos and put them on Rick's Slow-Motion Video Page.
The films are free for people to view, but they belong to me. Please keep that in mind.

While the some of my video projects might seem a bit unprofesional, the music with them is certainly NOT unprofessional. It's music that I've purchased licenses for. If you want to license music composed by professional artists...royalty-free, then click the image and head out to:

All animated gifs on these pages were created by:Richard Dashnau. If you like them, email me at rickubisREMOVE@yahooREMOVE.com and let me know.
If you didn't like them, I don't really care.
The morphs were created by the same person who did the animated gifs--me. Some images from other sources were used to make some of  these clips. No ownership of these "other" images is implied. They are used for non-commercial purposes for humorous intent and will be removed at the request of the owners of these images.
